Deborah Wise - Brighton Beach 2010

Deborah Wise is a British actress, originally known as Deborah Jeffrey and has an extensive CV dating back to when she was 9 years old.

​

Born to a Spanish mother and Scottish father, Deborah resided in various parts of the UK, including Chorley in Lancashire, Edinburgh, Alloway in Ayrshire and from the age of 8, Maidstone in Kent.  

Like John Barrowman, she is bidialectal, having developed an English accent to fit in at school, yet continues to speak to her family in a Scottish accent.



She attended acting and theatre classes and obtained principal roles in every show she auditioned for throughout her teens, learning the fundamentals of her craft from Annie Cusick Wood primarily, (wife to actor Henry Ian Cusick) and then her mentor, the actor and director,

Rob Forknall.  She performed in many shows alongside fellow actors

​Keir Charles, Chris ThatcherDavid Windle, and now broadcaster and presenter, Ant Payne.



 

Deborah attended Invicta Grammar School in Maidstone whereby other notable alumni she became friends with also shared her classes and enthusiasm for performance.  These include award-winning comedienne Angela Barnes, comedy TV writer Toby Davies,  actor and writer James Hillier,  BAFTA award-winning editor Will Peverett, feature film make-up artist Rebecca Cole, Rizzle Kicks producer Anthony Whiting, Cold Play, Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian producer Simon "Barny" Barnicott, Mower & Eugene McGuinness Drummer John Barrett and feature film Set Designer Valerie Nolan.


Deborah took her studies to degree level, obtaining a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Drama & Theatre Studies from the University of Surrey, Roehampton (now known as Roehampton University).  Her campus, Digby Stuart College, was home to the much revered actress, Vivien Leigh, and the university was also alma mater to Alice Beer, presenter of BBC's Watchdog; Toby Anstis, children's BBC presenter and radio DJ; Princess Alexandra of Greece, the late Mrs Gandhi; and writer, Enid Blyton.

Pollyanna McIntosh, The Voice (BBC1) contestant & west end actor and resident theatre director of Avenue Q Matt Henry, the comedians Daniel Kitson and Dave Gibson and was a contemporary of Hollyoaks actress Lamorna Watts.

Upon returning from teaching English and Spanish in Thailand after a year, Deborah was extremely proud to have obtained work with Oscar-winning director
Franco Zeffirelli when she appeared in Placido Domingo's Pagliacci at The Royal Opera House.  The opera broke records for being the most expensive ticket per minute for a production ever.

In 2008, Deborah began attending British darling
​Amanda Redman's (MBE) school for acting - ATS - at the world famous Ealing Film Studios in West London, performing devised showcases at The Questors.  Masterclasses and direction from the likes of Ray Winstone, Sylvia Syms, Philip Glenister, Beth Cordingly, Joanna Horton, Ishia Bennison and Susan Jameson, plus Amanda's invaluable friendship, advice and guidance has provided a freshened approach.

Shortly after getting married, Deborah changed her stage surname, (her maiden name of Jeffrey), at Equity, the Actor's Union.

Deborah lives in London with her husband and their two children.
